Using a game show format of questions and answers complete with music, sound effects and photos; participants will discover a fun way to test their knowledge.   In addition, when an answer is selected, a summary page will be launched that provides a detailed explanation of the correct answer. Most questions and summaries have photos to enhance learning. Some may even contain audio and video.

Laboratory Ergonomics
The Laboratory Ergonomics Program is designed to provide you with the information you need to train laboratory employees in how to identify and prevent the occurrence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).


The material in this package provides general awareness and laboratory specific information needed to train employees about the risk factors and identify physical work activities or conditions in the laboratory commonly associated with work-related MSDs. Furthermore, this program helps meet the accreditation requirements of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) in the Lab General Checklist question GEN 70816 as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) General Duty Clause of 1970.

The disc includes a 25 minute video addressing  general ergonomic issues as well as lab specific concerns including:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Laboratories must provide protective clothing, face and eye protection and respirators for staff, equipping them with protective items appropriate for the risks inherent in all tasks they perform. This program is designed to inform laboratory employees about the personal protective equipment (PPE) they will need to protect themselves from exposures to chemicals, blood and body fluids.

During site inspections, OSHA and other regulatory agencies will assess your facility to ensure you have adequate supplies of all PPE. In addition, the inspector will ask employees to demonstrate the proper procedure for putting on (donning) and removal (doffing) of lab coats and how to aseptically remove gloves. OSHA will check to make sure you have lab coats made of fabric that meets the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) specifications for PPE.

OSHA will also ask to see documentation of employee training on proper selection and use of PPE. This includes coats or gowns, gloves, face and eye protection and face fit tests for respirators.
Included on the disc is a 25 minute video that addresses the proper way to select and wear laboratory personal protective equipment.

Chemical Hygiene

Chemical Hygiene
This program is designed to provide you with the information you need to train your employees on the OSHA Chemical Hygiene Standard (CHS) of 1990 (29 CFR 1910.1450).

The CHS requires the written chemical hygiene plan be updated annually and employee training cover the laboratory’s engineering controls, work practice controls and required personal protective equipment.

Additional requirements of the CHS include an annual chemical inventory, material safety data sheet (MSDS) for each hazardous chemical and environmental monitoring.

In addition this program meets the accreditation requirements of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Lab General Checklist question GEN.70450 that requires a Chemical Hygiene Plan be in place and that it include training.


Included on the disc is a 35 minute video that addresses training issues associated with the Chemical Hygiene Standard including the storage and labeling of chemicals, safety work practices and spill cleanup.
