Extend safety shield forward until you feel the positive stop and hear an audible snap. This will secure the safety shield for safe transport to patient site.

Following transport the syringe is activated and injection is given to the patient.  Immediately following injection, extend shield forward until click is heard. Then lock safety shield by twisting in either direction until you feel the positive stop and hear the audible snap. Discard locked syringe into a puncture-resistant MONOJECT Sharps Container.

SurGuard Needle Protection System

SurGuard Needle Protection System

SurGuard Needle Protection System

SurGuard needle protection system provides single-handed needle protection through a unique locking mechanism. After the injection is complete, you simply press the sheath over the needle, against a firm surface, until an audible click is heard. This indicates that the needle is now safely covered and locked. Users now have a choice of three formats: SurGuard sheath without needle (which requires assembly), SurGuard sheath with needle, and SurGuard combination, which includes the needle and syringe.

SharpShield Syringe

Devon Medical is revolutionizing the safety syringe industry with the SharpShield Syringe.  The SharpShield Syringe allows traditional single-hand injection requiring virtually no change in standard techniques.

The safety device passively activates sub-epidermally when a form-fitted sheath slides over the needlepoint after the medicine is administered. This occurs before the needle is removed from the patient preventing exposure to the contaminated needle. The plunger locks to ensure one-time use and low dead space. Unlike auto-retractable syringes, SharpShield does not cause blood splatter upon activation or removal.

Key Features:

  • Reliable needlestick protection

  • Simple single-hand operation

  • Passive safety feature activation

  • Minimal dead space

  • Needle-reuse prevention

  • Inventory-friendly detachable needles

SharpShield Syringe

Reliable Needlestick Protection
SharpShield’s patented, sub-epidermal, locking-sheath design minimizes risk of accidental stick associated infections and medical costs.

True One-Handed Operation
SharpShield operates like a standard syringe—the way healthcare workers are conditioned to administer medicines. Its safety feature activates automatically without having to remember extra steps or new techniques.

Passive Safety Feature Activated Internally
SharpShield’s needle sheath deploys passively and locks into place after injection, while the needle is still sub-epidermal. This patented locking-sheath design starts protecting the healthcare worker and others from accidental stick before the needle is withdrawn from the patient.

Minimal Dead Space
SharpShield evacuates medicine from the barrel before activating the protective safety sheath and while the needle is still sub-epidermal.

Needle-Reuse Prevention
SharpShield’s locking mechanism prevents needle-reuse, creating additional protection against the spread of blood-borne pathogens and other infectious agents.

To use The SharpShield Syringe simply follow these easy steps:

1. Aspiration
Draw medication in accordance with established protocol.

2. Injection
Insert needle, administer medication by pressing the syringe plunger.

3. Safety Activation
Completely depress plunger until flush with barrel. While depressing plunger take care not to further advance the needle into the patient.

4. Withdraw
Withdraw needle and visually confirm plunger is fully depressed into barrel and needle tip is covered. Immediately discard into nearest sharps container.

SafeShot™ Safety Syringe

The SafeShot™ Safety Syringe meets the established standards of needle safety in that it virtually eliminates the risk of needle-stick injuries without the hazardous and troublesome manipulation of a needle cover.

Pick up the SafeShot Safety Syringe, placing locking tabs under thumb and index finger.

While holding locking tabs under thumb and index fingers exert forward pressure to inject needle into patient (or to draw up medication).

While completely injecting needle into patient notic that the health care worker is never exposed to the needle.

One of the factors that sets the SafeShot™ Safety Syringe apart is its integrated safety feature.  The protective sheath and locking tabs are part of the syringe design; unlike other needle covers, it cannot be removed or bypassed.  This feature enables the SafeShot™ Safety Syringe to provide protection from the needlepoint at all stages.

Unitract Safe Syringe™

The Unitract Safe Syringe™ is designed for use within Needle and Syringe Programs (NSPs) where governments seek to minimize HIV and hepatitis C epidemics through the provision of sterile injection equipment and safe disposal services to injecting drug users (IDUs). The Unitract Safe Syringe™ is designed to enhance IDU safe injection practices, prevent reuse or sharing, and protect those at risk of needlestick injury from unsafe disposal practices.

Benefits and features:

  • Independent non-reuse mechanism prevents reloading of dose upon commencement of actual injection. While the operator is not able to draw back the plunger sufficiently to encourage dose reloading, the device does allowing for re-aspiration to occur between the gates
  • Extra-wide flanges (finger grips) for easy handling
  • Suitable for single-handed use (left or right handed) so hands remain behind needle at all times
  • Permanently attached (fixed) needle with standard bevel for quick draw-up and administration
  • Audible, tactile prompt signals activation of safety mechanism
  • Passive (automatic) needle retraction - no additional steps required
  • Operator-controlled rate of needle retraction directly from the body into the barrel to virtually eliminate the risk of needlestick injury
  • Tilting of needle to one side within the barrel to help prevent needle re-exposure
  • Passive (automatic) plunger lockout upon full retraction of the needle to prevent product tampering or reuse
  • Latex free
