“If hospitals were sued for millions of dollars every time a nurse got a needlestick and the hospital didn’t supply safe needles, you can bet this problem would have gone away years ago.”

Safety Capillary Blood Collection Systems
Micro collection is a general term that has been used to describe capillary blood sampling.  Safety capillary blood sample collection products consists of two major groups - lancets and micro collection tubes.  Together, these two product groups provide a simplified system for the collection and storage of low volume blood samples.  These micro collection products are used in obtaining skin puncture blood from infants, children, geriatric patients and critical care patients.

MiniCollect® Capillary Blood Collection System

MiniCollect® Capillary Blood Collection System

The special circumstances relating to blood collection from small children places extra demands on the performance of a capillary blood collection system. Therefore, optimizing the technical aspects of the blood collection system can contribute to a simplified collection procedure. The new MiniCollect® tube shape is designed to facilitate thorough mixing of the blood with individual tube additives. The incorporated skirt at the base of the tube allows for the tube to be left safely standing when necessary. A visual control of the filling quantity is possible via graduation marks. The flexible rubber cap is equipped with so-called “Cross-Cuts“, which allow for filling or the collection of the blood sample without the need for opening the tube. This closed system prevents any aerosol effect and therefore any contamination. MiniCollect® tubes can be used in conjunction with either a funnel or a capillary. Greiner Bio-One is certified to ISO 9001 and EN 46001. For more information: www.greiner-bio-one.com

Microvette® Capillary Blood Collection System

Microvette® Capillary Blood Collection System

Safety Features and Benefits:

Sarstedt’s Microvette® Capillary Blood Collection System is a safe and reliable system for the collection of 100 to 500µl. Microvette® 100 and 200, for 100 and 200µl volumes respectively, are designed with pre-assembled capillaries. Microvette® 300 and 500, for 300 and 500µl volumes respectively, are designed with special rims for the gravity flow principle of collection. Both versions have twist caps to minimize aerosols and are available in a full range of additives.  Smooth tube interiors prevent sample hold-up, allowing optimal sample mixing and recovery.

Instructions for Use:

100 and 200µl: Collect blood until the assembled capillary is filled. Turn the tube upright to allow the blood to flow into the Microvette® tube. Turn the cap to remove and discard the pre-assembled capillary as one unit. Remove the cap from the base and seal the Microvette®. 300 and 500µl: Remove the twist cap and attach it to the base of the Microvette®. Collect blood using any part of the collection rim. Remove the cap from the base and seal the Microvette®.
