CathSling Catheter Securement Product

For the Patient:
(1) Hold the pocket it in your left hand at mid-chest, near the sterile dressing at the implant site. For Port-a-Cath patients hold the pocket near your infusion site.

Note the matching blue Velcro® on the neck strap & back of the pocket, and the matching white Velcro on each side of inside of the pocket. Place the neck strap blue Velcro side around the left side of your neck, and attach to back of pocket (blue Velcro on pocket not visible in photo.)


2) Place the catheter lumens of tunneled catheter (in photo) at the fold. If you have a Port-a-Cath or PICC, place a piece of Medipore® tape on the part of the access line that will be placed in the pocket. Then place the taped access needle tubing or IV line in the middle of the white Velcro inside the pocket.

(3) Fold the pocket flap over the lumens or lines, matching white tab to white tab inside the pocket. Check to be sure lines are secure and unable to slip downward. If there is slippage, repeat instructions or call For Patients.


Note to Nurses & Caregivers:
To apply to your patient, please follow all of the instructions by starting with the pocket held in your right hand and draping the strap around the left side of the patient’s neck as in steps 1 & 2.

 

The CathSling™ is designed to support the lumens of central venous catheters, access needles of Port-a-Cath, and IV lines of PICCs. Please follow your doctors and nurses instructions in the care of your catheter. Change daily, after each shower or dressing change.. Not recommended for young children under 10 years of age or for patients who are disoriented.

 

Product Guarantee: The CathSling is manufactured per FDA regulations and is exempt, patented, and Medicare reimbursable. The strap has a break-away feature for patient safety. It is guaranteed against manufacturing defects and is sterilized for patient use. If the packaging is open or damaged prior to patient use, do not use.

Fitting the Adjustable CathSling™

1. Place CathSling strap around left side of patient’s neck.



2. Attach long Velcro piece to back of pocket so that the pocket rests at the breastbone, alongside and just below level of catheter exit site.

3. Pull pocket with strap away from the body and catheter to trim off excess Velcro just below pocket, being very careful not to have scissors near

4. Insert catheter lumens in fold of pocket and close to secure lumens.
